Potterswork – Hand-crafted ceramics from the southern tip of Africa and one of South Africa’s most iconic ceramic producers has gone through various incarnations since starting out almost 30 years ago in a small seaside studio in Cape Town, where they provide employment for over 25 people. Many of them have learned on the job and each has become highly skilled within his/her role.

Some of our unique pieces were created by artist Fezile Ntshofu, winner of the New Signature Award at the Ceramics Southern Africa National Exhibition 2022. He is a local ceramic artist who has been working in the industry for over 20 years. After graduating from Sivuyile College in Gugulethu, he worked primarily as a surface decoration painter at Potterswork, where he helped develop the distinctive painting style for which the company is known. He recently began exploring new forms in clay. Inspired by traditional elements of Xhosa culture, he continues to combine his painting technique with the medium of clay and was recently included in the iconic Corobrik Collection, South Africa’s leading collection of contemporary ceramics.

ARC is proud to be able to present some of their unique work on its platform, hoping you are just as excited as we are.
