The Namji people of North West Cameroon are famous for their dolls. Their designs are considered to be amongst the finest and most striking of any African dolls. Fertility dolls were traditionally given to young girls to look after and help them prepare for their roles as mothers. The dolls are truly works of art, as they have been hand-carved from indigenous wood and then hand-finished with beads and shells.
